Synopsis:
Homunculus follows Susumu Nakoshi, a man living in his car between a park frequented by the homeless and a luxurious hotel. His life takes a bizarre turn when he is approached by Manabu Ito, an eccentric medical student, who offers him money to undergo trepanation—a procedure where a hole is drilled into the skull. After the surgery, Nakoshi begins to perceive surreal distortions in the people around him, unveiling dark aspects of their subconscious minds, known as “homunculi.” The series explores the fine line between reality and delusion as Nakoshi is forced to confront his own psyche, diving into themes of trauma, identity, and human nature
