Synopsis:
In the inaugural year of the Shōwa era (1926), sixteen-year-old Kanoko Urabe possesses a peculiar ability: she can hear lies. Ostracized by her community for this unsettling talent, Kanoko leaves her hometown in search of a place where she can belong. Her journey leads her to Tsukumoya, a town where she meets Soma Iwai, a down-on-his-luck detective with sharp deductive skills but few clients. Recognizing the potential of Kanoko’s ability, Soma offers her a position as his assistant. Together, they delve into various mysteries, combining Kanoko’s lie-detecting prowess with Soma’s investigative acumen. As they navigate the complexities of human nature and uncover hidden truths, Kanoko begins to find purpose and acceptance in her new role.
